Katherine, and I may have a shopping "issue".
I wouldn't exactly call it an addiction, but it would be fair to say that I have taken the concept of "retail therapy" a little too far. So, for 2010, I have decided to enter therapy for my retail therapy, and am swearing off all unnecessary purchases for one whole year. On the chopping block: music (iTunes? iLove!), office supplies (pens!), organizing containers (I have a lot of plastic tubs), and, gulp, clothing.
The treatment is simple: I can't buy anything unless I absolutely need it. What defines a "need", you ask? A need is something that I must have in order to function in my daily life. So what about all of those purses that I need for, you know, carrying stuff? That's where this blog comes in. Before I can purchase anything, I must obtain the approval of all you readers out there . . . so hopefully no one reads this blog. I will post my case, and take a vote: if the majority votes "yea", I can make the purchase; but if the "nays" have it, I have to make do without.
So follow along as I try to resist pretty shoes, writing instruments, and the Container Store for the next 365 days.
